Scrapbooking with Green is Child's Play

Help Spread the Word...

I am always looking for new sources of inspiration. Recently, I saw a little badge at the bottom of my friend Devra's signature for Child's Play Challenges. I had not heard of it so I decided to go check it out. It doesn't disappoint. Who wouldn't be inspired by children's toys!?!? From colors to packaging, they have inspiration for everyone!

This week's challenge centers around green slime. What child didn't( or doesn't currently) love that green slippery stuff?!?! It immediately brought to mind the creepers from my son's Minecraft game. They are a tall blocky mess of green! I made a layout for SNR magazine earlier this summer, and I had to make my own creeper from clay. As far as I know, there is not any Minecraft themed scrapbook papers out there. Before now, I haven't shared my full layout with the creeper in place. I figured he was perfect for this challenge and decided to reveal it today.

Minecraft by Christy Strickler
Supplies| Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants; Watercolor Crayons: Faber Castell; Clay: Sculpey; Gel Medium: Liquitex; Other: Acrylic paint, Stencil; Title is hybrid from www.supergamerx.com/minecraft-wallpaper/

I used watercolor crayons to blend the green blocks. My goal with the repeating block motif was to emulate the use of blocks in the game. Creating custom accents is the perfect way to theme your supplies to support your story.
