Endeavors with a Favorite Technique

A few years ago, I jumped on board the hand stitching trend. I liked the way it looked on my layouts. It brought a whole new look to my scrapbooking style. I don't hand stitch on every single layout like I did when I first tried the trend out, but I still like to use it from time to time.

After adding handstitching to my repertoire, I also wanted to delve into machine stitching on layouts. The biggest obstacle that held me back was the effort it took to get my machine out. I don't have a designated spot for the sewing machine and it seemed such a waste of time to lug it out of the closet to stitch just a few things down. My attitude about that changed earlier this year. I make quite a few layouts, however, being on design teams sometimes means I need to produce layouts faster than I normally would. When my scrapbooking time was limited, and I still wanted a stitched look for my page, it meant pulling out my sewing machine to save time.

The first few times I used the sewing machine, I was a little intimidated. I didn't want to ruin the few supplies I had. It surprised me just how easy it is to use a machine to sew on paper. I now keep my sewing machine out. I am glad I tried another new technique out. Whenever you try something new, it sometimes helps to use the technique several times. If it works well, then you can add it to your favorite bag of memory keeping tricks.

  3. I love the way the stitching looks on your layout. I don't have a sewing machine but I am thinking about putting one on my christmas list this year. Although I am not sure where I would put it in my house!
