Everyday can be Halloween!

I admit to having quite the collection of Halloween scrapbook goodies. Year after year, I have a tendency of falling in love with almost every line I see. I decided it was time to stop hoarding them so that I could use them. Not just for Halloween, but year round. 

I have been working hard behind the scenes. I have made a lot of videos and created quite a few layouts. Some of my supplies are traditional. Others not so much. From costume jewelry to fake mustaches, this class has it all. 

In Every Day Can Be Halloween, you’ll make fun Halloween themed layouts as well as explore how to use your Halloween supplies all year round. You’ll even get to experiment with color palettes and items typically found in the Halloween section and concoct your own cool and funky embellishments. Tales of a Craft Class Junkie: on My Wishlist

It's not like I need to sign up for more classes. In the past, I have signed up, sometimes month after month, and not finished what I started. Masterful Scrapbook Design is a given. It's easy for me to incorporate it into work with other classes and creative team assignments. Not all classes fall into that category though. Despite making the commitment to finish classes I have started, I still want to sign up for more.

Here are a few classes on my wishlist:

HandMade Flower Series: Bootiful Creations: Bifurcated flowers anyone? Halloween themed flowers seem like the perfect ticket for moms with boys or just because you love Halloween as much as I do!

Creating with Gelatos: Who wouldn't want to know more about creating with these? Sure, I use them often...but am I using them to their full potential?

Scrapbooking with Punches and Die Cuts:  This goes back to what I stated above. I use my punches, but maybe not enough. This class might help me unleash their full potential.



I do have some classes I have check off my list. I completed Gesso: It's not just a Primer. I learned a lot through the recent Art and Science of Scrapbooking class with Jennifer Wilson. I will be posting about a Story Coach class I finished a few weeks back. ( I had to wait to post it since it was used in a CT assignment)

Weekend Update: A BIG Announcement

You might have noticed a few changes around here. Earlier this summer, I talked about my plans to create my own website. I have been working to make it happen and am very pleased to announce that MyScrapbookEvolution.com launched today!

I have been writing articles for about a year and a half now.It's really an enjoyable process for me. I  wanted a place in which I could share some of those articles with all of you. My goal with the website was to create a space in which you could easily find resources such as color palettes, sketches and tutorials along with product reviews. Those will now all be within one spot.

I have integrated this blog within my website. Don't worry. You won't need to do anything about updating your feed readers or bookmarks. This blog is here to stay. It will be a source of inspiration which will include my endeavors with Project Life and my creative work with Get It Scrapped and JBS Mercantile.

I have begun to publish articles on the website and will do so throughout each month. There are just a few to start with, but I am really looking forward to sharing more with you. I'll give you a heads up of the articles I publish within these weekend updates.

My second big announcement involves a class. That's right! I am now an Instructor with the Art Studio at Scrapbook News and Review.  My very first class launched today. It's called For the Boys. In this class, I share how easy it is to add meaning to layouts about the boys in your life. I don't shy away from the so-called girly supplies. If it works for my story and I love the products, I see no reason why you can't use them on your layouts. You will learn how you can too as you get a peek into my process.

There are many new things still to come. Stay tuned. I have more classes in the works which will be making their appearance later this Fall.

Tales of a Craft Class Junkie: April 2013 update

It's been a little while since I have written one of these posts. To be honest, I haven't been keeping up with classes. I participated in LOAD during February which occupied quite a bit of my time. I did do a few class related layouts, but not much. Life is settling down a little for me again, which means it's a good time to learn something new!

I've taken classes from Christy Butters before. She has a great mixed media style that translates well across many mediums. I am excited to paricipate in another of her classes. I have been dabbling in art journaling off and on. So I expect to learn a some new things I can use for both art journaling and scrapbooking. I will be updating my tales of a craft class junkie post throughout the weekend. I am, after all, addicted to craft classes. Meanwhile, maybe I will see you in class!

Tales of a Craft Class Junkie: UTEE and the Melting Pot

My goal for taking the UTEE class was to learn more about how to use it and to make more use of the melting pot. So far, the class hasn't disappointed. My first project involved my learning to use UTEE and my heat gun. I created several lovely wooden embellishments. I had purchased the wood circles at the local craft store. Wood veneer, also know as Faux bois, is very trendy right now. However, unless I were to order on-line, the shapes seen in scrapbook albums are not readily available to me. The wood aisle at our local craft store had a variety of shapes from letters, frames and circles. At around $1 and up, these make adding faux bois to my layouts more economical for me. I can also customize the shapes which I have done here. I like how the UTEE adds a varnished look and how it brings out the wood grain pattern. Though I will say that the photo just simply does not do these embellishments justice.

Tales of A Craft Class Junkie: December 2012 Class Scheduled

It's the holiday season. So I know many of you might think I am crazy to take classes, but nonetheless, take classes I did! I am keeping up ok with all of them. I just try to do a little at a time every morning after exercise and before my son wakes up for homeschool. Tuesday is a big class catch up day for me. My son has a day packed with on-line classes. That means another teacher has him for certain segments of the day. Since I am free of homeschool duties, I figure it's a good time for crafty education!

So far, this has been a good replacement for the December Daily. I can give thought to what I want to write about without the pressure of having to do it right then and there or to create a layout. I have a feeling I may be doing this again in 2013!

This class began today. I get it for free as a perk for being a member of Scraphappy. I love Lain's classes. They really help teach you more about yourself and your style of scrapbooking. This class will delve into helping you tell a deeper story. I have listened to the first prompt, but honestly haven't had time to work with it today.

I recently joined the Simple Scrapbooker. Jennifer Wilson helps you delve into your process and stream line how you organize and work. I can really use the whole organizing part. She also has some free printable that are pretty cool!

This class just began about a week ago at the Art Studio. I am enjoying learning a little more about my collection of markers, ink and stains. I am sure you will be seeing lots of inky projects coming to the blog and my creative team assignments soon!

I am about 1/4 of the way through this class. It's another fun one from the Art Studio. Already, I am getting more use from my UTEE. I have made some fun embellishments and have stared concocting my own color mixtures. I may need to invest int Ranger stocks as I will need tons more UTEE!

This should be a wonderful way for me to review what I learned in the Guided Study Critiques offered through Get It Scrapped. The seminar begins on the 5th. Debbie is also giving away free classes each day for the first twelve days of Christmas, as well as deep discounts on other MSD seminars. I have been a member of Masterful Scrapbook Design since it began and I attribute my improving skills to the concepts I have learned MSD.








I will try to share what I can this month. I will confess that my main focus will be spending time with my son and making the holidays extra special for him. I hope you all have a wonderful month and perhaps I will see you in class!
