Tales of A Craft Class Junkie: Breaking the Rules

There are so many classes to take and so little time. Life always get busy and unexpected events happen. In the past, I would not always get the time I wanted to play around with the Scrapbook Coach classes over at Get It Scrapped. Now that those classes have been integrated into the Get It Scrapped Membership with Masterful Scrapbook Design, I was able to find time to work on them.

After taking the On a Block seminar last year, I became keenly aware of just how often I rely on a blocked design. This month's seminar features rule breaking ideas. The compositions are different than my go to design and I am hoping that completing several layouts will help me to try to incorporate a  different design every now and again. I am one of those people that needs to do something a few times in order to make it into a habit.

Supplies originally from the JBS Mercantile Feb kits
Snuggles Now Accepted By Christy Strickler |Supplies Cardstock: Colorbok; Patterned Paper: Elle's Studio, Pebbles,American Crafts; Letters: Jillibean Soup, October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin; Tickets: Jenni Bowling;Tags: Elle's Studio; Tape: Freckled Fawn; Stickers: October Afternoon; Other: Doily, Tags, Button

This layout is one of my new favorites. Not just because of the cute photos, but also because the design is so different from what I use. I love how this design breaks rules but works so well.

Made with Supplies from the August JBS Mercantile Kits
The Lil Supervisor and the Motorvan by Christy Strickler |Supplies Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Stickers, Die Cuts: Jillibean Soup; Letters: Jilibean Soup, October Afternoon; Wood Veneer; Sequins, German Foil: Jenni Bowlin; Other: Paperclip

My son used to call my grandparents' Rv the Motorvan. I love how this design allowed me to use scraps of paper from the August JBS Mercantile kit to complete it.

I have a few more layouts to create for this Scrapbook Coach lesson. I love how the designs I am using are so different from my normal choices. I also love how these designs work so well with leftover scraps. I am really making some good use of leftover bits.

If you create any layouts from the Scrapbook Coach series, we would love to see them in the Get It Scrapped Gallery. Meanwhile, I hope you will join in for this month's topic. I am a guest teacher in the Photo Play series.
