Kit It Out with Triangles

I love triangles. I just don't tend to use them a whole lot on my layouts. Time to get outside my comfort zone with Challenge One from the Counterfeit kit challenge. The challenge is to use five or more triangles on a layout. This is the perfect excuse to pull out a triangle stamp from my stash and to give them a workout.

Snuggle Kitty by Christy Strickler |Supplies Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants, Basic Grey; Letters: American Crafts; Stamps: Studio Calico, Basic Grey; Tape,Brad: Basic Grey; Ink Ranger< Tsukineko; Die Cuts: Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye; Sticker: My Mind's Eye; Jewels: Doodlebug ; based on the July inspiration piece from Scraphappy.org

My counterfeit kit didn't have any 12x12 papers in it. I chose a piece of kraft and a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper to be my canvas. I cut the kraft paper down to 81/2 x 11 in size. It's not a size I regularly work with and was the perfect way to step farther out of my comfort zone. I chose a piece of patterned paper with triangles in the print. I pulled out my stamps and created a design on two sections of the patterned paper. My inspiration is based on a layout featured at Scraphappy.org.

My kit is full of bright colors. Using the pale pink patterned paper as my canvas along with the kraft cardstock toned the colors down just a bit. The pink visually supports the idea that this cat is full of a lot of love.

While I love my kit, it's been a challenge to get things going. The bright colors and patterns lend to a very graphic design. I am off to search for more pictures that will work well with this kit. I am not sure if I will kill the kit, but I am at least hoping to make a dent in it.

  2. Super cute layout and I really like what you did with the triangles. Making a dent in the kit is good that is what I normally do each month, I have yet to kill a kit even though I give a good go :)
