JBS Mercantile: Mid Month Check In

I'm a little late this month. Mid Month Updates generally occur around the 15th of every month. These include new additions to the JBS Mercantile Flea Market and an update to the Design Team Gallery. Around here, it takes a little time to get back on schedule after the holidays. Everything here, including the mail, shuts down for several weeks. Then there is that sluggish start back to school. No one ever really wants to go back to work, right?

This month's kit really rocked. I probably say that every month. However, I really feel like each month keeps getting better and better. This month's kits included a color scheme I may not have tried out on my own: soft tones of orchid, pink, gold and navy. I am down to scraps and few full sheets from the Main, Mini and Antiquarian kits.  A sign that, being a part of JBS Mercantile is a good thing for me. There is no point in subscribing to a kit club if you don't use the products.

This is the first layout with a photo from 2014! My son enjoyed a virgin strawberry daiquiri while we sat harbourside and took in the view. I wanted this layout to be all about celebrating, for my family has so much to look forward to this year.

JBS Mercantile January: Main and Mini Abum Kits
I was being very frugal with this particular page. I cut a 4x6 section from the bokeh print paper in the mini album kit. I then cut that into strips, which I then cut into half. I drew an outline of the photo then scattered the strips around, stitching lines through each set.  I cut small sections from a piece in the main kit in order to obtain the print with the cross pattern. It made a lovely and festive nest for my 4x6 photo. I used a simple hole punch to create additional confetti. I punched it from the extra strip with the manufacture's information found at the bottom of 12x12 paper.

The letters inside this month's kits were plain white which made them very versatile. Many of the Creative team, myself included, chose to colour them. For this layout, I used some of the Glamour Dust gold paint that was part of the December kit selection.

You can see the full Design Team Kit Gallery here. I plan to share more of my thoughts behind this month's layouts over the next week. Stay tuned for that. In the meantime, I think I just might get one more layout out of my January kit. Off to Create!
