LOAD213- Scraplift Yourself!

Here we are on day 4 of LOAD213. I'm still going strong, but of course, it's only day 4! Monday's are a bit hectic for me. We have a standing appointment to attend plus our regular homeschool. To fit in today's layout, I decided to scraplift myself.

I created this layout for Get It Scrapped a short while back. I really liked the overall design of this layout...so much so that I ended up making a sketch from it.

Batman by Christy Strickler Supplies| Cardstock: Colorbok; Patterned paper: Making Memories, Studio Calico; Stencils: Crafter's Workshop; Mist: Ranger: Borders: K and Company, Tim Holtz; Gesso: Grumbacher; Other: Electrical tape

It's one of my very first sketch designs. It's easy for me to use, especially if I have a kit complete with all the matching papers and embellishments.

Since I was short on time this morning, I grabbed my JBS mercantile kit. It made it very easy to create a layout in about an hour. It's a little hard to see, but I did stitch a square around the canvas before layering my embellishments on top.

His Dreams - My Goals by Christy Strickler
Supplies| Cardstock: Colorbok; Patterned Paper: Pebbles,
JBS Mercantile; Alphas: Rusty Pickler; Ephemera: JBS
Mercantile; Ink; Tsukineko;Other: Glass beads, Hand carved stamp; Submitted to the About A Boy challenge blog

Today's prompt was all about goals. Originally, I had intended to use this photo expressly for PL2013. Then, I had the wonderful idea to use it in a succession showing how my son's video game programming skills are developing. I decided that it would also be a perfect way for me to document my support for my son's dreams. This is one of the wonderful things about Layout a Day...it makes you see other story telling opportunities.

So what's the moral of the story today? Simply put, it's ok to scraplift a design you like again and again. It's also perfectly wonderful to use one photo several times on different projects. There is always more than one side to a story. As far as today's design, you can expect to see several more variations soon. I used it on a layout for Scrapbook News and Review magazine and on another for Get It Scrapped.

  9. I like the concept "Scraplift yourself" and I think it would be great for us all - as you said why not use the same photo over and over again or the same design! Lovely take on the challenge, thanks for playing with us at About a Boy!
