Valentine Treats by Christy Strickler Supplies| Patterned Paper, Die Cuts: Sassafrass; Alphas: Rusty Pickler, Colorbok; Flowers: Sassafrass, Maya Road; Butterflies: Jenni Bowlin |
My Grandmother used to make my lunches in elementary school. I loved the week before Easter and Valentine's Day. She cut my sandwiches into shapes and put little treats inside. Each day, the treats got a little bigger until the big holiday came. I like doing little things like that for my son. I love spoiling him on holidays, just as my grandparents spoiled me. Little moments like these are what I remember from being young. I hope he will cherish similar memories when he is an adult.
My goal today is to have a little white space in my afternoon to bake cookies with my son. Sure, it's Valentine's day and I would most likely be doing something special with him anyway. My point is, that I really need to just savor it, to allow my heart and mind to appreciate everything in those moments, from his conversation to the rich smell of cookies baking. So today, I hope you find a little white space in your day. In fact, I hope that you find time to make some in your schedule every week.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to read and comment on my blog. I know I don't always respond back in a timely manner. However, I really do appreciate all of you for coming here. I also wanted to share something today about white space.
I'm not talking about it in design terms. I'm talking about your schedule. White space on your layout means leaving a space for your eye to rest. In your daily schedule, it means leaving space for your heart and mind to rest. Sometimes, life get so busy that we can't seem to get a second to breathe. We get to a point in which we forget to appreciate little things. Today is as good a day as any to start doing that again.
Love the idea of white space in my schedule as well as my layouts! I need a little more of that and plan to get it next week, after we celebrate my MIL's 80th birthday. Fun page, love your color scheme!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the use of white space in our lives Christy! And so good that you have those memories of your Grandmother and now you are passing it down! Love the fun little bits of Sassafras you used on your page!
