The DigiScrap Geek Podcast- Documenting December Episode 44

I think the last time I caught up with an episode of the DigiScrap Geek Podcast was prior to my international move.( For anyone popping into the blog for the first time...I just moved to the UAE and it's awesome!) Initially, we had planned for my move to happen sometime in August and the podcast took a break. We thought everyone needed one and I was sure I would get moved, get settled and back on track. That just didn't happen. One thing led to another and the move was delayed quite a bit. Suffice it to say, there is a lot paperwork to do properly ( mostly in regard to flying three cats into several countries). In the end, everything lined up for us to go during the last week of October.

I am still settling in a bit and hope to be in my new apartment soon. Meanwhile, I had a great time recording the latest episode for the DigiScrap Geek Podcast from a hotel room. It was so nice to hear the voices of my fellow co-hosts. We had a hard time breaking away from idle chit chat in order to get the show recorded. We did meet and work on some show ideas and yes...there is another show to be edited.

What we also did not count on were technical difficulties. This led us to make a quick decision. We could wait and continue to try to work things out so that we can post to our normal podcast hosting sites/apps. OR, we could post the show in audio format to the Digiscrap Geek Blog for you to listen to. We opted to go ahead and post. Why make you wait? Especially since the material is somewhat time sensitive. You can listen to the episode here on the DSG website.

We talked about our plans for documenting December. I tend to take a casual approach which works well for me. I wrote a little about my thoughts on documenting December in my December Daily Reality Check for 2015. I go into more detail during the podcast.

How will I document my December?

I am an Alumni of Journal Your Christmas with Shimelle. I will be using some of her prompts this year, once again. Last year, she added videos in each day. They were short and enjoyable to watch.I am looking forward to those prompts again this year.

I was also happy to see that Get It Scrapped had added additional material to the Your December Story Class. This class was the one and only time I ever managed to complete a full December Documented style project. I will be using materials from this class once again. ( I do talk about Get It Scrapped a lot because I love them and the community so much. Just an FYI, I am a design team member and an affiliate.) Would you like to know more about the Your December Story Class?

Since I have made a HUGE life change this year, I don't foresee myself spending money on holiday scrapbooking papers. On the off chance that I get a little money to spend, I did make a little wishlist. Remember, to check your stash of supplies first and to keep in mind that holiday sales might be just around the corner. IF you just can't wait and you suddenly feel the urge to buy Christmas scrapbook stuff, you are welcome to use the links from some of my affiliates( In fact, I really appreciate it when you do!).

Catching Up: Project Life 2015 and the DigiScrap Geek Podcast Episode 38

It has been my goal to share relevant thoughts and inspiration to go along with each episode of the DigiScrap Geek Podcast. I was doing quite well with this up until a few weeks ago when I rebranded my website. Changing things around on MSE took all of my full attention. I changed to a new template, had to learn a few new things and then learn to fix the mistakes I made along the way. It wasn't necessarily hard but it was time consuming. I still find myself tweaking things but well, I digress...

Back to the topic! We have continued to record the DigiScrap Geek Podcast and I have continued to write down ideas to expound upon regarding the subjects we cover. Today's post has to do with a request from our latest episode. The topic of Project Life came up. I love Project Life but as with anything I do, I have found I needed to organize it my way in order for me to make it a doable project. I have talked before about how I do a monthly page spread mixed in with 12 x 12 Scrapbook layouts. Talking about something is one thing. Showing is another. I decided to make a video sharing a walk through of my 2015 Scrapbook Album to date.

In the video, I talk a little about how my method is saving me space. I know it might not seem like that when you see all of those cat layouts. However, using this method has cut down the number of albums I have each year. Prior to this, it would take 4-6 albums to document a year of photos. I now have about 2-3 albums for one year. Still a lot, I guess, but for me a much better option.

I still have more insights to share from other episodes of the DigiScrap Geek Podcast. Summer seems to be the perfect time for me to catch up on blog posts( even get ahead in my blogging) and catch up on listening to my favorite podcasts. So stay tuned for more articles from yours truly. Same Bat Time. Same Bat Channel. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend with your family with a little create time for yourself.

Welcome May!

May is one of those months that is just filled with excitement in the scrapbook community. There is a lot going on, especially since iNSD ( International/ National Scrapbook Day) happens on the first Saturday of the month. There is also LOAD515. LOAD or layout a day is a challenge in which you create a page a day for the whole month. I do plan to be in the thick of it all. How? With a little careful planning on my part.

First, my plan for LOAD515. This isn't a public challenges. Rather, it's one that is run through the Scraphappy.org group site. Scraphappy is a group membership. The benefits to joining include access to all of the Layout a Day challenges( several of which are for the family group only), free webinars and monthly scrapbook inspiration in the community.I am a member of Scraphappy and have been for several years. Anyway, the LOAD 515 theme this year centers around music. My approach for the month will be a bit relaxed. I am not trying to complete a page a day plus my creative team work. I will incorporate that work into my monthly page count. Some of the work I can't share right away and I am ok with that. I am making this more of a personal challenge.

If you are thinking about joining a Layout a Day Challenge, you might want to check out some of my posts about past LOAD preparations:

Of course, the iNSD events will be a large contribution to the number of pages I make. Saturday, I will be joining members of the Get It Scrapped communtity in a live online crop. I generally make 2-4 pages on a crop day depending upon how much time I spend chatting. Today is all about getting ready for a full day of scrapbooking tomorrow. I will be perusing my photo library to see if any pictures catch my attention. I will also be looking around at my various sources of inspiration. However, if you really want to get pumped up for tomorrow, the best bet is to watch the DigiScrap Geek Podcast Live show!

One of the great things about iNSD is all of the sales and giveaways. Speaking of which, today is the last day to enter the DigiScrap Geek Podcast(#DSGPromo) giveaway. You can enter until 12:15 Pm Eastern. There are lots of great prizes including a membership to History Lines. Just click her to enter. You don't have to be present to win.

I hope you have a productive and fun iNSD. If you are shopping,I wish for you to have a great haul of supplies found at the lowest possible prices. Happy Scrapbooking Day!

P.S. I made a short process video of a hybrid layout to kick my creative spirit into gear. You can watch it here.
