Get It Scrapped: A Fierce Badge

I love badges. I try to find one every time we go on vacation. They make great embellishments! They seem to be few and far between though. Occasionally, they show up as a scrapbook trend. Lately, I have been determined to use up some older supplies.Time to search for some badges. Shopping  my stash is fun. Old supplies become new again, especially when you can mix them with new trends. Badges are popular again, but I just didn't have the right one.

I had the photos in mind. Shopping my stash had helped me find the almost perfect supplies. Almost. I had a canvas tag but it just wasn't quite what I wanted. So I chose to alter it.

I cut off the top of the canvas tag, then I machine stitched around the edges. It was now perfect...and old supply made new again.

Don't be afraid to alter older supplies to fit newer trends. After all, the item is just sitting there, waiting for you to use it.

Friends often tease me about my enabling. I have a tendency to share sales and good deals on things I know they might like. So today's post has a touch of enabling involved. I have shared my photo work flow with you in a previous post. One of the tools I love to use in my photo editing is on sale now.

I love the Totally Rad Lab plug in. I use it in Photoshop Elements 12, though Rad Lab has a variety of plug ins and tools for other platforms. Right now Totally Rad Lab is  30% off with coupon code TRSUMMER. Pop on over to Totally Rad and check it out.

Tales of a Craft Class Junkie: Criss Cross

I still find myself overcoming my latest creative block. I'm creating, but not with the ease that comes from a spark of inspiration. I keep doing my best to try to light the fire. My latest endeavor involved the Scrapbook Coach Class: Criss Cross.

You might have spied this particular foundation in some of my recent work. I have used it before, but not with intention. You see, when I am really creative, I just wing it. Ideas from previously viewed inspiration take form as I push the elements around the page. Participating in the Scrapbook Coach series is a bit different. I am working with the intention to know more about a specific composition. At the same time, I am hoping this intent sparks my creativity.

While it helps to follow along with suggested supplies and photos, I don't always do exactly as the  class dictates. I didn't have three vertical photos,so I took the suggestions to heart and adapted them to fit. I made a wide title which is the same width as the horizontal photo. In essence, my criss cross bands are thicker than those suggested in the class.

I was really inspired to document this story of my cats being teased by a local bird on our back patio. I started with the photos and then found the perfect patterned papers to tell the story. It made sense for me to adapt the criss cross foundation to fit what I had versus fighting to make my supplies fit the exact foundation.Once again, I am loving how the Scrapbook Coach classes help me stretch myself while letting me adapt them to my creative process.
