I had a wonderful month full of creativity thanks to my participation in Layout a Day 215. I am still riding that wave of creative energy and have so many plans for sharing with you on the MSE website and blog throughout the month of March. I made a total of 35 pages and 1 home decor project during February. Some days, I was making two pages a day to keep up with my design team obligations. I didn't post all of those pages to the LOAD flickr gallery since several of the pages have yet to be released. No worries. You will see those sometime soon.
I am happy to say that I didn't skimp on design or product use while making my LOAD pages this year. I feel I have come a long way in my process and know how to use my tools and products effectively to tell my stories. Sure, there was some quick decision making, but I have no regrets about anything I made.
Partway through February, I realized I had just a few pages left for my Janaury 2015 Project Life spreads. I decided to go ahead and finish one per day.
I am really enjoying the collage templates from Traci Reed Designs. They make my PL pages go so fast. I am liking the layout of my photos so much better now.
Throughout February, I continued on in my efforts to document Boo as a kitten. I took a ton of kitten photos but I did manage to make a dent in them.
I also managed to make a huge dent in my January and February Cocoa Daisy kits. I used up scraps and now have just a few sheets of paper left.
I not only managed to document a lot of stories during LOAD this year, I also manged to use a lot of my saved inspiration pieces and supplies. I count my LOAD215 experience a success. I am looking forward to participating in the next layout a day challenge!

LOAD215: Progress Report 3
The month of February is over, but I still have a few layouts to share from LOAD215. I am pretty pleased with the pages I created this year. I took a little time to look back at the layouts I made for LOAD214. In comparison, this year's pages have more detail and feel more finished. I have a small stack of last year's pages that I feel need just a bit more embellishing. Both years, I felt short on time. I am not sure I can blame this lack of embellishing on time as this year I really felt spot on with the embellishments I chose. I can conclude that, quite possibly, this year I am a bit more enthusiastic and that also, I have grown quite a bit in regard to embellishing and layering. Perhaps there is a need to do a few posts with a before and after aspect as I go back to those older pages. Meanwhile, let's get to sharing this year's layouts.
The best way for me to use a grid design is to make sure I use a wonky grid. I was pleased with the way this page came together thanks to some inspiration from the past.
This page was a great opportunity for me to mix older papers with some new embellishments. I used past papers from my Studio Calico kits with a few heart embellishments that I recently acquired. You might not notice, but I was having an issues with my sewing machine when I made this layout.
A great opportunity to use my school themed supplies showing the interaction between my son and our kitten during the homeschool day.
I was very excited to scrapbook this year's Valentine's Day photos. So I printed them right away.
I was thinking about this month's Kraft Plus challenges color palette when I made this page. I find the lightbulb motif works well with academic themed papers.
I am still way off prompt for most of my pages. Still, I love what I am making and I am inspired to tell stories. It would seem that for every page I make for LOAD that I just want to make more.

LOAD215: Progress Report 2
I had meant to do a weekly report, but I have been quite busy. So far so good. As of right now, I am down a couple of layouts for the daily pages. However, I have been making quite a few pages for various design teams. My total pages this month so far: 31 layouts( a mix of pocket and traditional pages) plus one mixed media project for Deflecto. Despite not posting a couple of pages to the LOAD215 group, I am feeling pretty good about what has been accomplished so far. Here are a few of the pages I have not yet shared from my layout a day experience.
I had challenged myself to create pages based on sketches I had been collecting. For the most part, I have stayed true to my word. In many cases, I have even been using sketches for some of my design team projects. This page was an exception to that challenge. I chose to create a page using a planner ad which meant I had to work around the parts of that ad.
I seem to be on a big kitten kick this month. I realized that I had yet to document bring Boo home. The photos are from 2009. I have really been enjoying taking a look back at such a happy time in our lives.
I seem to also be on a kick with my January Cocoa Daisy kit. This is one of six layouts that I have made with that kit.
I have also enjoyed reaching for some of my older supplies. In their own way, supplies tell a story about our memory keeping experience. I pulled out a few of my last remaining Sassafrass flowers for this page. I was so sad when Sassafrass left the Scrapbook supply business.
Another goal of mine this month was to mix old supplies with new. I found these older leather purse die cuts from American Crafts in my stash. While I like the gem motif that has been appearing lately, I wasn't finding it easy to use. Mixing it with the purses and this particular photos was a good choice for me.
As you can see, I am not really following along well with the book related prompts. After seeing those kitten photos, I was on a mission to get them scrapped. I have made a few other pages with older photos I have come across. Overall I am enjoying my layout a day experience. There are a few days I have felt a bit tired out and I think being busy has also played a major role in my decision to go off prompt. I want to scrap and tell stories but I don't want to think too deeply about creating pages .

Load215: Week One Progress Report
Week one has been very hectic for me. Aside from our normal housework and homeschool schedule, we have had lots of extra errands added in. In addition to doing the layout a day challenge, I have also been working on layouts and projects for various design teams. In truth, I have actually been making two layouts per day. I know what you're thinking. That's crazy. Part of me would agree, however, in actuality, I find my creativity is exploding. The layouts are coming to me with ease. The only thing I am really struggling with is finding the time to blog and write articles for all the things I want to share.
True to my promise, I am referring to sketches for each of my LOAD215 layouts. Here is a roundup up my layouts from days 1-5.
On day one, I skipped the prompt. I had spent the day with my family and by the time I sat down around 10 PM, I found the prompt took more focus from me than I was willing to give. Instead, I chose to tackle a recent sketch from the Get It Scrapped blog. I always adore pages with large photos, but they aren't my forte. Havign a sketch as a guide helped. I wanted to capture the unease of a storm. I chose the mustard yellow paper both for the contrast with the photo and my association of yellow-green with bad storms. The rain paper is from a digital kit. I mixed in paper elements that were similar to those found within the kit.
Layout two is one of my new favorites. I used supplies from my January Cocoa Daisy kit along with a PageMaps sketch from my 2014 Scrapbook and Cards today Planner. Today, I stayed close to the LOAD prompt. I documented how Jujubee got her name from one of my son's favorite childhood strorybooks.
Once again, I strayed from the prompt for Day three. I needed a quick layout. I chose to grab scraps from a recent Project Life layout to create a complimentary page. This is based on an archived sketch from Scrapbook Challenges.
The prompt for day for helped me turn some plain pictures into something fun. This journaling challenge had me telling the progressive tale of giving treats to our pets. It reads" If you crinkle the treat bag, chances are, One pet will come. If you open the treat bag, another will come. The third pet will need to see what is going on. Then everyone must have a treat." I needed a simple sketch since I was once again short on time. I dug into the archives of Simple Scrapper. I also blended older products with new ones. The pet themed paper is rather dark, but coupling it with the grid and brighter colors gives it a bit more energy.
I am determined to make use of all of the sketches from my Page Maps 2014 planner. The sketch made it come together with ease. This page is another current favorite. I think, in part, that may be due to how much I love my January Cocoa Daisy kit. This page is about my son making me a coffee mug. I will also be submitting it to this month's stashbuster challenge at Cocoa Daisy.
So far, I am very happy with my progress. I will continue to use sketches from Get It Scrapped, Scrapbook challenges, Simple Scrapper and my SCT Page Maps planner. I hope I can use up the planner by the end of February so I can toss it out and begin the sketches for the 2015 planner.
Something I do need to work on...using my stamps. I have yet to really use them for this month's challenge in the Get It Scrapped forum.

LOAD 215 Blog Hop
It's almost time for the next Layout a Day challenge. I am excited to join friends both old and new as we embark on a month long commitment to make a scrapbook page a day. For those who haven't tried the challenge before, it can seem a bit daunting. I hear conversations fraught with worry about whether or not they are fast enough to make a page a day. Now that I have a few LOAD challenges under my belt I can say with conviction that you just need to relax. It's not as hard as you think. I wish someone had told me that during my first LOAD challenge.
Relaxing is a bit hard when you feel pressure to complete something in a set time frame. My first few LOAD challenges were full of me scrapping hard and fast, hands shaking, trying to finish my layout by midnight. I am a stay at home mom but my day isn't empty. I homeschool my son, clean my home and fix meals for my family throughout the day. I had to learn how to allocate a little time to work on my LOAD challenge each day. For everyone, this is different. It took a few prompts to find my groove. I like to look at the prompt, take a bit of time to think about my approach, then set to making the layout. On some days, this means I don't start working until sometime after 8 pm. Long story short, you might have a few days of shaking hands. Once again relax, and think about what worked for you and what didn't. Can you work in the morning for an hour or will you have time at night?
Share that you are doing LOAD. The first time your spouse or child might look at you cross eyed with confusion. They may not get why it's important to you, but at least they will understand what you are doing. You might even find you get a few extra helping hands around the house so that you can allocate a little extra time to the challenge.
Prep or don't. Preparing for LOAD is a personal thing. Once again, you need to find what works for you. I do shuffle through my photos, trying to anticipate which ones will work or not. I do have some kits set aside along with a collection of go to sketches. It doesn't mean I will use them. I let the prompt take me where it will. I have learned that, for me, keeping preparation to a minimum is fine. I want to be able to adapt to prompts on the fly.
You can save time with confident choices. Many days, you will not have the time to shuffle through 45 sheets of paper to find just the right one. Look at the prompt, pull the first photo you think will work, and then go to your supplies. The first embellishment or paper you pull that catches your fancy are the right ones. In memory keeping, there are no wrong choices, just options. During LOAD, you need to keep those options to a minimum.
Have fun. If you don't make the deadline, so what. The earth will not blow up. Your house will not self destruct. What will happen is that you will learn a little about yourself. You will make some new friends. You will keep on creating and in the end, you might just be crazy enough to sign up for LOAD next year.
