How to make DIY Bookmark for Erin Condren Planners

I started using my Erin Condren Planner back in July. Since then, I have been looking for ways to use it practically while also adding in some decorative elements. I discovered that I often easily lost my place within the planner. Yes, there are monthly tabs. My problem was that I wanted to quickly flip to the week I was working in and to any pertinent notes for that week in the back of my planner. The answer for me was to create a set of personal book marks using some of Deflecto's flexible pouches. The process is super simple. In fact, you can make a bookmark in less than 5 minutes.

Here is a closeup of the four bookmarks I created. I chose to put a few 3x4 pocket page cards from a recent Cocoa Daisy kit inside my pouches. The cards are double sided, so there was no need to worry about what to put on the back. Any3 x 4 inch pocket page card would work. You could also add family photos. The Deflecto pouches are sturdy and they remain closed. I am not worried about the cards slipping out, so I didn't feel the need to fuse the top of the pouch shut. Leaving the top open will allow me to change out the cards as often as I please.

As I mentioned in the video, you will need to We R Memory Keepers fuse tool to seal the sequins into the bottom of the pouch. The Deflecto flexible pouches are thicker than a page protector which means that using the metal ruler as a guide is not an option. The layers are too thick for it to fuse well. Set the metal ruler aside and use your glass mat or a cutting mat with a grid to draw a straight line free hand. Work slowly and steadily so that the Fuse tool doesn't slip on the glossy surface of the pouch. Do not apply to much pressure or you will cut the pouch rather than fusing it. At times, it may help to lift the tool and place it down again gently as you work across the pouch.

The Deflecto flexible pouches come in packs of ten. It's very likely that you won't need 10 bookmarks. I plan to make a few extra to give as gifts. They are so quick and easy to make plus there is the added bonus of being able to personalize them for any friends or family who also love Erin Condren Planners.

Throwback Thursday: Inspired by Get It Scrapped and Corrie Jones

What do you do when you are stuck and you lack motivation to scrapbook? I like to turn to sketches. I don't have to think about the design. I can just choose a photo and begin working. Sometimes, the process jumpstarts my creativity and I get my motivation back. A little over a year ago, around iNSD, I was stuck and lacked the motivation to create a layout. I chose to use one of the sketches from the Get It Scrapped Sketch and Template Library. Sketch #102 to be exact.

August 2015 is all about Late Nights and Creative time

This month's post comes a few days after the official start of August. As the summer progresses, I find my personal schedule changes quite a bit.I have always been a bit of a night owl, but it seems that during the summer months, the late nights become even later. Maybe that's because it's a bit cooler after the sun goes down. It's just so easy to sleep in some days and stay up late creating.

I am juggling quite a few things in my personal life right now, but am very happy to say that a regular editorial calendar is one step closer to fruition. I still struggle with the frequency of posting. Mostly because, once I write an article or blog post, I want to share it right away. It's so hard to write a post and store it for later, but slowly, I am acquiring a small cache of posts for you. As always, I have a tendency to write/talk quite a bit and I know you must be anxious for inspiration and scrapbook layouts. So let's get to it!

How Our Life Has Changed by Christy Strickler |Supplies Cardstock: Bazzill;Letters: American Crafts; Tape: Freckled Fawn; Transparency, Enamel Dots: Shimelle; Pocket Card, Stickers: Cocoa Daisy; Chipboard, Button: Crate Paper; Other: Tag;Inspired by a Sketch and Story Starter from Simple Scrapper Premium Membership

I found this photo of my husband and I on an old key chain. I extracted it and used the clear plastic frame from the key chain over the top of the photo. It adds some nice dimension. I placed a few enamel dots over the spots where I used liquid adhesive. The adhesive was a bit splotchy and I didn't care for how it looked. I had a general idea about when the photo was taken, but not an exact one. This made it the perfect candidate for a generalized story about how our lives have changed since my husband and I first met.

I have another layout from Simple Scrapper to share with you, but first, I need to edit the video that goes with it. Meanwhile, there are already a few new articles on the MSE main website. I also have a monthly recap of the top stories from July to keep you occupied until the next article is published. Happy Crafting Everyone!
