I could have chosen to use a traditional color palette inspired by the great detective. However, tan and black just didn't seem to fit any of the photos I wanted to scrap. Instead, I chose to focus on patterns. I mixed plaid with houndstooth and added letters with beige and wood grain.

I chose to ask a question as the main portion of the title. I also chose to use spare question mark stickers as embellishments. This layout was a fun experiment. Plus, I used a lot of older supplies. I have had this paper in my stash for at least five years.
Using creative prompts can be a fun way to use up your older supplies. Look for ways to mix them with current trends for an updated feel. I wanted a sleepy feel to this layout, so I chose soft colors. The masculine patterns are a nod to the fact that this cat is a boy. Overall, I don't feel like the older papers make this layout look dated. I invite you to choose something that has inspired you lately and try using that inspiration with some older products from your stash. I am betting you will love the results.
